Evaluation 1 : In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My magazine shares several generic conventions of Rock/Metal music Magazines, such as the masthead, anchor text puffs central image etc.

In the creation of my masthead, my research showed me that many rock magazines and bands tend to have quite complex logos, often a gothic script type font or a more beaten up font, such as Kerrang Magazine. This represents the  rebellious nature of the target audience and the general non-conformity ideology of the genre. The colour scheme of the masthead uses the typical colour palette for the genre and is also eye-catching, this is important as it is the most important part of the cover as it leads to brand recognition.

for the centre image, I have chosen the one I have because it is often that rock music covers tend to be slightly more quirky and grungy and I believe this image appeals to these traits.

throughout the magazine the colours are bright and eye catching, especially for  the contents page, however the colour contrasts nicely with the duller background of the page.
